In short
Pipou Island is an educational game for children aged 6 to 12, used under a parent's responsibility.
The publisher collects no personal data about children or parents. The app does not declare Android's Internet permission and sends no data to the publisher or to any analytics or advertising service.
There is no account, no advertising, no analytics, no social feature and no link to an outside website in the game.
Profiles and progress stay on the device only. Only the optional purchase of the full game goes through Google Play (see below).
What is stored on the device, and why
To work, the app stores in its private storage (not accessible to other apps):
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Child profile created by a parent: first name or nickname (14 characters max), age, game language(s), chosen character and, optionally, a photo picked from the device gallery (cropped to a square) | Recognise the child, adapt difficulty and language |
| Progress: stars, completed steps, items and badges, the result of each question (skill, level, success, number of mistakes, help used), play time of sessions | Resume the game, adapt exercises, show progress in the Parents' area |
| Settings: sounds, voice, music, session length, reduced motion | Respect the parent's choices |
| Parents'-area code (4 digits), stored only as a salted hash, and a recovery code (same principle); count of failed attempts | Keep the Parents' area and the purchase for an adult |
| Proof of purchase of the full game supplied by Google Play (product identifier, purchase token, signature), only if a purchase was made | Keep the full game unlocked, even offline |
This information never leaves the device: it is not sent to the publisher, shared, sold, or used for advertising or profiling. The publisher has no access to it. Android's automatic backup (cloud and device-to-device transfer) is disabled for the app: changing device does not transfer progress.
Android permissions requested
- Vibration (haptic feedback);
- Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING), for the optional purchase of the full game;
- Network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE), added by Google's billing library: it tells whether a network is available, without giving the app Internet access.
The app does not request access to the Internet, camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, or the device's photos or files. It does not use the advertising ID.
Purchase of the full game (Google Play)
The app is free; the full game is a one-time purchase, offered only in the Parents' area, behind the parent code. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play: the publisher does not see, receive or keep any payment data (card, billing address) and has no customer account.
The proof of purchase is stored on the device (see above) and is not sent to the publisher. To check a purchase, a restoration or a refund, the app queries the device's Google Play service; these exchanges are Google's responsibility, under Google's privacy policy. The publisher only receives the sales information that Google Play provides in its console (for example the number of sales), nothing about the child.
Reading voice
Most instructions are read from audio files included in the app. For the few phrases that have none (for example the child's first name), the app asks the speech-synthesis engine installed on the device to read the text. That engine belongs to the device or to the voice app chosen by the user; depending on its settings (online or offline voice), it is covered by its own privacy policy. Pipou Island itself sends no data over the Internet.
Profile photo
The photo is optional. It is chosen by a parent with the system image picker; the app requests no permission to access photos or the camera. The image is cropped and copied into the app's private storage and does not leave it. It can be removed at any time.
Children
Pipou Island is intended for children aged 6 to 12, under the responsibility of a parent who creates the profile. It asks for no email address, phone number or location, and allows no communication with other people. It contains no advertising and no outbound links; the purchase is only possible in the Parents' area, protected by a code.
The app is designed to follow the Google Play Families Policy: no advertising, no advertising ID, no advertising or analytics tools, and a purchase reserved to the Parents' area.
Retention, deletion, your rights
Data stays on the device as long as the app is installed. In the Parents' area, a parent can edit or delete a profile and reset progress.
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data (Android Settings > Apps > Pipou Island > Storage) deletes all profiles, progress and the local proof of purchase (the purchase remains attached to the Google Play account and can be restored).
Since the publisher holds none of this data, there is nothing to provide, correct or erase. For any question, including under the GDPR, write to contact@sc-media.fr. You may also contact the data-protection authority of your country (in France: the CNIL, cnil.fr).
Content generated by artificial intelligence
The voices and music were created in advance with artificial-intelligence tools and then included in the app. The app itself uses no artificial-intelligence service and sends no data to one.
Security
Data stays in the app's private storage, with Android's automatic backup disabled; the parent code is never stored in clear text. No method being infallible (for example on a modified or shared device), we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where to find this policy
This page is available at https://sc-media.fr/en/pipou-island/confidentialite, as stated in the app's Google Play listing.
Changes
If the app were to change so as to process data differently (for example by adding an online service), this policy would be updated before that change and, where necessary, a parent's consent would be requested. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page.
